Kristin Mäffert's job is as an emergency paramedic in the rescue service: one moment she's waiting at the station, the next she's on her way to a mission with blue lights and sirens blaring to save lives. In the video she reveals what she earns and whether her training as an emergency paramedic was worthwhile and whether the job is worth living for. The 30-year-old from Erlangen is an emergency paramedic with the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) and does her job out of passion. And for her, that's not just an empty phrase. The emergency paramedic has been on missions for seven years, first training as a paramedic and a year ago further training as an emergency paramedic. That is the highest qualification in her profession, which means that she has a lot of responsibility. She can give painkillers when necessary. And she has to save lives when necessary. But she often helps those affected emotionally and supports them in exceptional situations. Even though she enjoys her job, Kristin can't imagine doing it until she retires. She explains why in the film. For Kristin, there are day, night, late and early shifts. They last at least 7 and a maximum of 12 hours. For "Is it worth it?" we accompanied Kristin on a day shift. In it, we experience what it really means to work as an emergency paramedic and how different the job is from what most people imagine. That is "Is it worth it?": One person, one job, one life. And at the end, the question: Is it worth it? We accompany people in their jobs and show their lives. Is it worth working for the salary and using it to finance your own life? We are always looking for protagonists: If you also want to show how you live with your job, feel free to write to [email protected]!
