Elevated liver values make many people nervous. Around 5 million people in Germany suffer from one of many different liver diseases. And since the liver is an incredibly important organ with many functions, liver damage can quickly have serious health consequences. The causes of the various liver diseases are so numerous that they can ultimately affect almost any of us in the course of our lives. However, with all these abbreviations for liver values such as AST or yGT, laypeople often find it understandably difficult to keep track. How do I detoxify my liver? The concentration of some liver enzymes is considered, which is increased in many liver diseases. This is because when the liver tissue is damaged by disease or toxins, the dead liver cells release their enzymes into the blood; the concentration of enzymes in the blood increases. To a certain extent, the level of the increase in enzymes can therefore also indicate the extent of damage to the liver cells, but this is not completely reliable and there can be exceptions. Elevated liver values - always a reason to panic? Have you now been diagnosed with elevated liver values? This is not always a direct reason to worry. As I said, there can be many causes for this. The next steps therefore depend on your symptoms and the extent of the increase in liver values. For example, are your values elevated for the first time and do not exceed twice the upper limit of normal? Then we often wait 2-3 months and then check your laboratory values again. It may be that the values have already returned to normal and were only triggered by, for example, temporary medication or an acute infection. What is fatty liver? You have probably heard of fatty liver, right? It is a common health problem in Germany. Did you know that around a third of adults have an enlarged liver due to fat deposits? The causes are, for example, high alcohol consumption, a high-fat diet and a lack of exercise. A change in lifestyle can help the liver to regenerate. If you do not change, over time you can develop liver inflammation, liver fibrosis and liver cancer, with serious health or fatal consequences. What symptoms indicate liver disease? Early symptoms of liver damage include loss of appetite, tiredness, and a feeling of pressure in the right upper abdomen. In the early stages of many liver diseases, however, such symptoms may be absent altogether. As the disease progresses, yellowing of the whites of the eyes and skin, as well as vomiting and pain in the upper abdomen are typical. Of course, as is often the case, there can be completely different explanations for many of these symptoms. ▬ About this channel ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ With “Video Visit Dr. Weigl” you have found the current, medical-scientific channel that describes topics relating to pain, #medicine, and #health in an understandable way, but based on facts, guidelines, and studies. ▬ Even more videos ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Our liver - Live healthier by cleansing the liver?: http://bit.ly/Leber_Video Is liver inflammation dangerous?
