Find out how Saint Bernard puppies are raised and cared for. Founded in January 2005, the Barry Foundation took over the kennel and breeding of the famous Saint Bernard dogs from the Maison Hospitalière du Grand-St-Bernard (Congrégation des Chanoines du Grand-St-Bernard). Since April 2005, our foundation has owned the breeding that has existed for three centuries. We are therefore the oldest and most remarkable Saint Bernard breeder in the world. Currently, the Barry Foundation has 27 female dogs and five males (situation in January 2022). Respecting the tradition of the Great St. Bernard dogs, we mainly breed short-haired dogs. Only ten Saint Bernards in our possession have long hair. On average, 20 pedigree puppies are born each year in the breeding. A team made up of a breeding manager, nine animal keepers and three apprentices ensures their well-being, their optimal development, their socialization and guarantees professional training of the dogs.
