In an interview for N1, the former president of the republic, Borut Pahor, estimated that the time of transition, and thus of the transitional left, is coming to an end. But not only on the left, he estimates that this will also bring about changes on the right. The events of the past week show that there has been some bubbling in Slovenian politics for some time. After a stormy meeting at the SLS summit, Peter Gregorčič, the new face of the right, met with Anžet Logar, and they reportedly did not talk about joint participation in the elections. However, each of them has some political potential from the last election in which they participated, for which it is not yet clear how they will cash in on it. That they are actively preparing for the parliamentary elections, in order to cash in their capital from the European elections, was announced in SDS, where they announced the start of registering candidates for future elections. Even otherwise, the consolidation of the terrain is in full swing. Their work is made easier by the government coalition. Prime Minister Robert Golob and Finance Minister Klemen Boštjančič are still burdened by the Litijska affair, which resonated even at the last meeting before the holidays. The speech of the speaker of the parliament, Urška Klakočar Zupančič, resonated even more, as she kicked the SDS deputy right from the podium in the middle of the debate on the amendment of the parliamentary investigation law. Let us remind you that the law was introduced by Klakočar Zupančičeva in order to limit the tools of the parliamentary investigation in order to protect President Golob from the investigation of his (former) companies. The government still does not have a defense minister, who is leaving for the European Parliament these days, and Golob still does not have his replacement, so he will take over the leadership of the defense ministry himself. Otherwise, it was already clear a month ago that Šarec was leaving, when he was elected as an MEP on the Svoboda list, but Golob, as he says, did not want to look for a replacement as long as Šarec is still "doing well", but unofficially it is clear that it practically has no personnel pool anymore. Meanwhile, Minister Emilija Stojmenova Duh is awaiting another interview. It is also varied abroad. In France, the left joined forces against Marine Le Pen's National Assembly, which thus won only third place in the second round of elections and will almost certainly not govern. However, governing will be very difficult due to the extraordinary dispersion of the parliament between the National Assembly, Macron's party Together and the joint list of the extreme left, as well as several smaller parties that are also in the parliament. French politics, it seems, will not hear the voice of the French demanding a turn to the right. Similarly, not in the European Parliament, where so far the same coalition that ruled before the previous elections is visible, although now the third largest force is the right-wing group Patriots for Europe, founded at the initiative of Viktor Orban, and recently joined by the party National Choir of Marine Le Pen. Across the pond, there are calls for Joe Biden to resign from the presidential candidacy, since he can no longer perform this function, but Biden is not giving in for the time being and announces that he will persevere to the end, even though more and more prominent Democrats are turning their backs on him. The echo of the week is a show in which we look at the events of the past week with a critical distance and place them in the appropriate context with comments. In this last show of the season, Peter Merše and Mirko Mayer commented on the events for you. With this, Peter Merše also says goodbye to hosting the Echo of the Week in the Homeland show.
