The ECG - almost every critical patient gets a monitoring ECG, often a 12-lead. We would like to explain the ECG from the perspective of the emergency physician. From the absolute basics to crazy arrhythmias and STEMIs that are not STEMIs... all of this awaits you in the coming weeks. First of all, we will start with the basics and discuss how an ECG is structured, how to write an ECG correctly and what basic techniques there are. Sound good? Then let's get started! ATTENTION! The exact placement of the ECG electrodes is partly controversial in the literature. While some sources state that the placement of V5 and V6 should take place in the course of the 5th ICR, a large majority of sources, including the AHA (thanks to Stefan Dreesen for the research!), say that the positioning of V5 and V6 should be horizontal at the level of V4. This is not entirely clear in the video!
