By taking control of the Senate, Republicans gain enough seats to retain control of the House of Representatives, giving President-elect Donald Trump's party complete control over the levers of power in Washington. As head of the executive branch, Trump can sign or veto laws from Congress. He can also sign executive orders. In addition, presidents can grant pardons for federal crimes, something Trump has promised to supporters who were jailed for the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. With Republican control of the legislative branch, Trump now has a free hand to push his agenda. This includes mass deportations and extensive tariffs on imports into the United States. In addition, the judiciary is also tilted in favor of the president-elect. Three of the nine Supreme Court justices have been appointed by Trump and are working with three other conservative colleagues to reshape the country with rulings on abortion rights, gun rights and regulatory issues. #DWNews #Trump
