We will also study some of the structures surrounding the duodenum. The duodenum is located between the stomach and the jejunum - the jejunum is the second segment of the small intestine. Specifically, the duodenum is attached to the pyloric portion of the stomach. This initial section of the small intestine is approximately 20-25 cm long. What does it do? The main function of the duodenum is to receive partially digested food from the stomach, allowing it to begin absorbing nutrients.
