DRIVING TEST: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO DO BEFORE STOPING AT THE STOP SIGN - BRAKE, CLUTCH, DOWNSHIFTING What I explain in my videos can integrate but not replace the theory and driving lessons you can take in a driving school. ✔️ SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL --- @reOggiAndreaBrusadin ✔️ INSTAGRAM: @_oggi/ ✔️ FACEBOOK: @oggi 🔴 Do you want to help SUPPORT THE CHANNEL? It is a driving style that we can ALWAYS use; but if you want, once you have passed the test, things can also be done in a slightly different and simpler way. But I will explain this alternative to you at the end of the video. At a stop sign, you must always stop BEFORE the transverse stop line, regardless of traffic, regardless of whether vehicles are coming from the right or left to which you will obviously have to give way. At a stop sign, you stop, period. Not stopping for the test will certainly mean being rejected. Let's imagine we are in third gear, which is also the gear that is used most in built-up areas, i.e. the roads most frequently used during driving tests. The first thing we will do in view of a stop, will be to slow down well in advance, obviously using the brake pedal, trying to press it lightly and keep it pressed constantly. The speed will slowly begin to decrease. And it will not be correct to continue to always keep third gear: going slower, we will have to engage the smallest gear, i.e. second. So, always keeping the brake pedal LIGHTLY pressed so that the vehicle continues to slow down even while we shift down, we will press the clutch all the way down, engage second, and then gradually lift the clutch again, because by doing so we will also use the braking action of the engine, which will help us to further slow down our speed by giving a hand to the service brake, that is, the pedal one. We will always be braking and when the speed has further decreased and we are now close to the stop line, I would say about, AT LEAST, ten meters, we will have to lower the clutch all the way back down, this is to prevent the engine from starting to jerk and then possibly even stall. When we stop, we will therefore have our right foot on the brake pedal and our left foot keeping the clutch pressed all the way down. What we will have to do before a stop is this: 1- start to slow down by lightly pressing the brake pedal; when the speed has sufficiently decreased, and always continuing to slow down with the brake, 2- we will press the clutch and 3- we will shift down to second, then 4- gradually lift the clutch again; near the stopping point 5- we will lower the clutch all the way down and stop. Once stopped, the clutch must be kept lowered, and we will lift it again only when the time comes to set off again. The most classic mistakes are 1- starting to brake late, thus not having time to downshift, or not being able to do it properly; 2- braking at the right time but starting to downshift late; by doing this, when the clutch is lifted again you will feel the vehicle jerking and the engine will even risk stalling because it will have dropped too much revs; 3- one of the most classic mistakes is to do everything at the right time, but lift the clutch again too quickly after downshifting, thus causing the engine brake to intervene abruptly, with the result that the vehicle will make a nice jolt; 4- another classic mistake is to brake intermittently, perhaps releasing the brake when you press the clutch, then pressing it again, but releasing it after lifting the clutch again, etc... Using the brake in this way will complicate everything. The brake must be used consistently: you start braking slightly with due advance, and you keep the braking more or less the same until the stopping point. If you have any doubts about what to do before stopping at the stop sign, write them to me as always below in the comments and I will try to answer you as soon as possible.
