The purpose and features of the driver for MOSFET and IGBT transistors are considered. The first part briefly considers the operating principle of a transistor switch controlled by pulse-width modulation (PWM). The differences between an ideal transistor and a real one and the causes of power losses when turning on and off, like MOSFET and IGBT transistors, are shown. The main power losses in transistors occur when opening and closing. The higher the switching frequency of a semiconductor device, the higher the losses, the stronger the heating and the lower the efficiency of the circuit. Also, power is released in the open state of the switch, due to the presence of a voltage drop. With increasing power of MOSFT and IGBT, the voltage drop in the open state increases and the greater the power loss. #MOSFET #IGBT #driver #electronicsclub
