Today marks the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Dresden in World War II on February 13, 1945. In the night of February 13, 1945 to 14, large parts of Dresden were razed to the ground in two waves of attacks, and tens of thousands lost their lives. The first wave of attacks began at 9:45 p.m. Since 1946, this has been commemorated with the ringing of bells (initially only in the Kreuzkirche). Today, the bells of all the city's churches ring during this time (9:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.). They commemorate this destruction, the death of the bomb victims, and remind us of peace. It is a very moving moment every year. --- In this video, the bells of the three inner-city churches, Kreuzkirche, Cathedral (formerly Hofkirche), and Frauenkirche, have been combined to form an impressive choir of bells.
