Miriam Lang has a job that is like a dream for many of us: she is out in nature every day, wandering through the forest. Her job: forester in the Fichtel Mountains, where she wants to "design the forest of the future". Every day she drives out to her 1000 hectare area in the north of Bavaria - together with service dog Emil, who is a new addition. He has only been living with Miriam for four weeks. Together they explore the forest, check whether the hiking trails are clear, where trees can be felled, where new ones need to be planted - or where the bark beetle or a fungus has taken up residence. At the moment Miriam is still getting her bearings in the area. Because: she officially took over it on June 1st. Before that it was in the hands of Karlheinz for 32 years, who is now retiring. The position was simply advertised on the internal blog of the Bavarian State Forests and Miriam applied for it and it worked out. The last step of a long journey... It began with an apprenticeship in gardening and landscaping and, after several years of searching for the ideal career, ended with a degree in forestry engineering in Weihenstephan, the state examination and an assessment center at the Bavarian State Forests. Now with her own area, Miriam can say: She has found her absolute dream job. We were allowed to accompany her for a day... and a few unexpected things happened. That is "Is it worth it?": One person, one job, one life. And at the end of the day, the question is: Is it worth it? We accompany people in their jobs and show their lives. Is it worth it to work for the salary and use it to finance your own life? What makes me happy about work? We don't just compare salaries, we show how people live from their work. We are always looking for protagonists: If you also want to show how you live with your job, feel free to write to [email protected]! On a personal note: We are not infallible either - and although we make every effort to present every individual financial situation clearly, correctly and understandably, we sometimes need help. The Bavarian State Association of Tax Advisors and Auditors always provides us with competent support - thank you very much for that!
