This documentary shows how the house was planned and built. You can see what it looked like five years later right here: https://1.ard.de/Traumhauser-S2F2-wei... And here is the whole documentary: https://1.ard.de/Traumhauser-S2F2-ganz This family from Passau had actually already built their dream house. Or so they thought. But over the years there were more and more aspects that they no longer liked. The uneconomical and conventional room layout, for example. The large staircase in particular seemed like a waste to them at some point. They decided to give the "dream house" project another try. Uncompromising, according to their own ideas, based on their experiences with dream house number 1. It was not necessarily important to them to have more space, but rather to use every single square meter sensibly. Architect Stefan Hiendl solved the annoying problem of "accessibility", i.e. hallways and stairs, by limiting the living space to one level. Which, by the way - and you have to think about this in good time - makes the house largely barrier-free and wheelchair-accessible. The modern bungalow has neither a basement nor an attic. Nothing should disturb the reduced clarity and openness of the new dream house. A house that stands out from the structural monotony of the new housing estate through its individuality and design consistency. Various cuts in the elongated building not only created numerous attractive views out, in and through, but also protected outdoor seating areas and atriums. Some neighbors were alienated by so much that was unfamiliar. The flat roof. The single storey. The elongated, reduced form with the dark, almost black facade that was largely closed to the street. But the builders were completely convinced of their dream house. Are they still like that eight years later? And the neighbors? Have they gotten used to the house?
