OF COURSE it's 2019 and it was the special train from Dresden to Sonneberg to Piko and back. But from 1965 to 1973 it looked something like this between Reichenbach and Hof. The heavy interzone trains sometimes had to be pulled by V180 doubles. The V180 thus replaced the 22 series and quickly cleared the Vogtland of steam. The four-axle and six-axle variants were also used in mixed operations, as can be seen in the video. From 1973 onwards the V180s were replaced by the V300s in the Reichenbach depot. Now for the special trip. The trip went from Dresden via Hof, Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg, Lichtenfels to Sonneberg and back again. The special train was pulled by 118 552 of the ITL and 118 719 of the EBS. You can clearly hear the differences between the two locomotives. On the 118 552 you can clearly hear the typical 12 KVD engines. Despite the five hundred number it no longer has 1000 hp engines but was given two 1200 hp engines in 1983. 118 719, on the other hand, sounds completely different. Its two Cat engines, each with 1425 hp, are barely audible. But the fans howl quite loudly. It was modernized in the early 2000s. It was given two Cat engines and reinforced fluid transmissions from the 114/204 series, each with 962 kW input power. This means it is comparable to a 232 (according to an EBS train driver) in terms of the data for trailer load, starting tractive effort, etc. But the 118, at 16 tonnes, has less axle pressure than the 232 with over 20 tonnes. If anyone has more technical data on the V180, whether with the old engines or the new Cat, please feel free to add to or correct me. Thank you So now have fun watching
