I reached the station in Donauwörth just in time to film the so-called Kukident Express arriving. This is the IC 2083 and 2085, which travels from Hamburg to Berchtesgaden and Oberstdorf respectively. It got its nickname because the average age of its passengers is said to be in the high double-digit range. I haven't checked, anyway... In Donauwörth, the train is still pulled by a class 101. That will change in Augsburg main station. There, the train will be split (i.e. divided) and the section of the train to Oberstdorf will get a stylish class 218 locomotive - but there will be a separate video for that. Otherwise, of course, there was plenty of local traffic and shunting. There was also plenty of freight traffic. And don't forget: Donauwörth is also a system stop for ICE traffic. Not that there are an excessive number of ICE stops here, but there are a few – on average between 15 and 20 a day.
