Hello, I am in Vang Vieng, a cute town in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. For a few days, I have been exploring the surrounding villages away from the noise and crowds with my rented scooter. Magnificent nature, peace everywhere. Since I came here, I have been exposed to news about the 6 tourists who lost their lives that I mentioned in the video. I have a constant feeling of uneasiness inside me. I am constantly going back and forth between sharing this news and not sharing it. Both because I don’t want to spread fear, and I am questioning myself “are you making a profit from this, Yasemin?” Social media is such a place, I constantly feel like I have to think and do something, in order to stand taller against bullying or not to create false perceptions about anything. However, at the end of the day, when I realized that I was staying in the hostel right next to the one mentioned in the incident, I decided to share it. I also gave information on Instagram yesterday and when many of our friends thanked me for this reminder, I added this information to the video: 6 tourists staying at the same hostel lost their lives about 10 days ago due to alcohol poisoning that was offered to them. The issue of fake alcohol is unfortunately taking lives in many parts of the world. Let's be careful about what we drink and who we drink with and consume closed-bandrolled drinks ????
