Two weeks ago, the Cumbre Vieja volcano, located in the Canary Islands, Spain, erupted, putting the world on alert. There was even a possibility that, depending on the strength of the explosion, Brazil could be hit by waves caused by a tsunami, which did not happen. But the damage on the island of La Palma was extensive. Around 340 hectares of land were completely covered in ash, which is equivalent to 500 football fields. The lava also reached the sea, which caused the release of toxic gases. Domingo Espetacular takes a closer look at the situation on the island today and meets a Brazilian woman who lives in the region and had her home destroyed.
