An entire mountain riddled with long, dark tunnels from the First World War: that's what we'll discover with you on the Lagazuoi tunnel trail in the Fanes group in the Dolomites. The hike offers magnificent views, but also leads through long periods of darkness. You rarely experience something like this. No wonder, then, that this spectacular hike is one of the most popular in the Dolomites. *********** ► Do you like our video? Via path 402 we climb up steep bends to the entrance to the secured path. Now we go into the war tunnels. Helmet and headlamp are mandatory on this exploration! We climb gently uphill on a narrow, secured path. Finally there is a fork. We first take the detour to the left over the Martini Band. Now it becomes more exposed and adventurous. We discover old, abandoned shelters and positions of soldiers. We climb wooden ladders through ancient tunnels in the rock massif. The highlight is an unbelievably great view of the surrounding mountains. After we have walked back along the Martini Band, the actual path in the tunnel begins. The tunnel is over a kilometer long. Without a flashlight or headlamp you won't see anything. It goes steeply uphill over endless stairs. Only now and then do we see daylight at a hole in the rock. You can see everything we explore and discover in the tunnel in the video. After the long climb we come out of the mountain. Outside, just below the summit of the Little Lagazuoi, we see a fantastic mountain world. Huge 3000-meter peaks rise up before us. We go through another open-air museum with trenches towards Refugio Lagazuoi, the Lagazuoi hut. From there we walk to the summit of the Little Lagazuoi at 2,778 meters. For the way back we take the spectacular cable car, the Lagazuoi cable car. A surprise awaits us at the bottom.
