※ This video is part of the program <Only One Earth - People Who Can't Throw It Away> that aired on February 19, 2016. The 1972 'New Cortina' is still in operation. "Riding a car for a long time is like becoming a comfortable friend to me." - Lim Ki-sang, a man who can't throw away his 45-year-old car Lim Ki-sang (58), the owner of a 45-year-old car that catches the eye on every road he drives. His car, the 'New Cortina', was manufactured in 1972, making it the oldest car registered in Seoul. The small turn signals that don't seem like modern cars, the tall side mirrors, and the mudguards on the wheels that were essential for driving on unpaved roads at the time show the years that have piled up. It has driven a whopping 580,000 km so far! That's more than 14 times around the Earth. Even though it's been scrapped for 45 years, it's already been that long, but Lim Ki-sang still visits a car repair shop once every two months and maintains it with utmost sincerity. Lim Ki-sang says that when buying a car, you should go to a 'junkyard' instead of a car dealership.
