Domperidone (Motilium or Peridal) is a dopaminergic antagonist used as a prokinetic. In other words, it is a medication that blocks the effect of dopamine and serves to help the stomach empty more efficiently. Among its adverse effects, an increase in prolactin is described. However, hormonal measurements are only necessary if there is a suspicion of a clinically significant increase in prolactin, that is, one that causes symptoms. Reference: Camilleri M.
