Fifteen people were killed in a shooting in the summer of 2021. It was the deadliest crime in Marseille’s history to date. Rival gangs terrorize people in the northern neighborhoods, where powerful drug gangs control some of the city’s districts. Criminals do not hesitate to use contract killings to prove their power or to dominate new drug-selling areas. The city’s police want to find a solution to the problem through special units. The gangs’ turnover is estimated at around €30 million a month. In hotspots such as the social housing areas of the north, traffickers make around €80,000 a day. Marseille’s police, the anti-drug agency and special forces in plainclothes work around the clock to combat these illicit deals. Yet gang violence is on the rise, claiming the lives of innocent civilians. The documentary accompanies elite units as they carry out their patrols and major operations. #Documentary #DocumentaryDW #DW #Marseille #France #Drugs A call for dialogue at DW: https://p.dw.com/p/OYIo More documentaries can be found on our websites in English: http://www.dw.com/ar/tv/docfilm/s-3610 / dwdocumentary / dw.stories
