DIY insect traps at the dacha are essential elements of a calm and pleasant holiday. With the onset of warm days, everyone goes out into nature, to the dacha in the forest, and here we are met by hordes of various insects that fly around, buzz and bite. You can always brush off annoying flies and wasps, but save energy and time, and make a simple trap for wasps, mosquitoes and flies. Today we will make three traps for different insects, for each of them we will need plastic bottles, 2 liters, dry or live yeast, compote or jam, beer or wine, a piece of meat, water and liquid soap. The design of the traps will be the same, only we will fill them with different contents to catch different types of insects. Making an insect trap. Cut off the top part of a plastic bottle (2 liters) (about a third of the bottle). Turn the cut off part over and place it in the lower part of the bottle or in another bottle with the bottom cut off by a third (our option), so that later we can drain the contents and fill it with fresh bait. Make a hook or loop from wire or thread on top to hang the trap. Let's move on to the baits. The first bait for mosquitoes consists of yeast, sugar or jam (compote) and water. This mixture should be poured into the lower part of the trap. As a result of fermentation, carbon dioxide will be released and attract mosquitoes. The first trap is ready. It is better to wrap the bottle in thick paper or foil. The mosquito will get into the bottle and will not be able to get out. In the second trap, a piece of meat is used as bait. This will attract wasps and flies. Hang the meat on a thread and pour soapy water into the container. Flying to the smell of rotten meat (this will happen in a few days), flies and wasps will try to fly out of the trap, but the thin neck of the upper funnel bottle will not allow them and they will fall into the soap solution. The third trap is the simplest, pour beer or kvass or wine into the main container. Mosquitoes and flies fly to alcohol fumes, which is the same carbon dioxide. And if they get inside the trap, they cannot get back out. We left the traps at the dacha for one week. The result of the experiment with the traps can be seen at the 8th minute of the video. Flies and mosquitoes, falling into the trap, die. There were no wasps in the traps. This is a good and harmless method of dealing with unpleasant insects in nature. The only downside of this method may be the smell emanating from the trap, but in the open air we did not feel discomfort. It is better not to use such traps indoors. #DIYinsecttrap #insecttraps #DIYtrap #outdoorinsecttrap #DIYtraps #insecttraplifehack #mosquitotrap #flytrap #wasptrap #dachasuper
