Our friendly sales couple honors us in the big XXL evening show with a proud bronze statuette. It depicts a scene that is meant to allude to the defeat of the French in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 to 1871. The "imposing group of figures", as our expert Detlev calls it full of admiration, dates from the 1880s to the end of the 19th century. It consists of the winged goddess of victory Victoria and a wounded or even killed in battle warrior in her arms. As a sign of surrender, the warrior carries a broken saber. But an olive branch lies on the ground in this depiction and metaphorically represents the fact that peace is being "trampled underfoot".
