Varieties of distributor drive on petrol versions of ZIL family trucks with V-8 cylinder engine. The oil pump and ignition distributor are driven from the rear end of the camshaft using a pair of helical gear wheels. One of them is made on the camshaft itself on its rear tailpiece. The gear is subjected to hardening with high-frequency current heating to a depth of 2 mm to a hardness of 42 ... 57 HRC3. The screw-wheel pair is located on the axis in a combined device called the ignition distributor drive. The drive consists of a housing cast from AK9M2 alloy under pressure of the drive shaft located in the housing and a screw wheel installed on it. The wheel is secured from turning with a pin with a diameter of 5 mm. Flared on both sides. The shaft is fixed from axial movement by a locking ring and the end surface of the screw wheel. The drive shaft is ground steel with a diameter of 15-0.018 mm. At its lower end there is a tenon 12 mm long and 5 mm thick, 7.5...7.7 mm deep for connection with the ignition distributor tailpiece.
