Disney wants to make wishes come true - and has been doing so for 100 years. The anniversary is to be celebrated with "Wish", the 62nd entry in the so-called masterpiece series. However, it is doubtful that this animated film will bring a big party at the box office, because the story is told in a complicated way, the songs are hardly worth mentioning and aesthetically it is a bit reminiscent of the old cartoons to create nostalgia. Of course, this film is also being sold as an empowerment work, but the meritocratic ideology that the heroine Asha is trying to re-establish is really nothing new and not very emancipatory. More on this from Wolfgang M. Schmitt in the new film analysis! Literature: Arthur Schopenhauer: The World as Will and Representation. Vol. 1. Suhrkamp.
