A large amount of buried coins was discovered at the Arai Hori-no-uchi ruins, known as the remains of a samurai mansion from the Middle Ages. The total weight is nearly one ton, packed tightly into a jar, with an estimated 260,000 coins. This is one of the largest buried coin discoveries in Japan. How are they excavated and stored? We introduce the site in Hasuda City and also speak with the Saitama Prefecture Buried Cultural Properties Research Foundation.
