Dinan, charming medieval city between land and sea Follow us during our day of walking in the heart of the medieval city of Dinan Located in the Cotes d'Armor about twenty km from St Malo, Dinan is surrounded by nearly three kilometers of ramparts. The city and its 14th century castle proudly dominate the Rance. Below, the small marina is the starting point for beautiful walks along the estuary while in the medieval city the corbelled houses complete the visit of this city. The castle of Dinan consists, at the end of the 16th century, of three elements: the Ducal tower, the Guichet gate and the Coëtquen tower, By walking through the impressive rooms of the Castle, we discover the ingenuity of military architecture and the refinement of the daily life of the knights of the Middle Ages. The tour of the ramparts allows you to appreciate this urban belt of approximately 3 km with its Keep, its 10 towers and 4 preserved gates and to enjoy unique viewpoints on the surrounding region. After this visit of the castle and its ramparts, we fly over the "Du Guesclin" square, enter the medieval city to admire the corbelled houses that have become shops or restaurants and we immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages by walking along the steep street of Jerzual. This cascade of half-timbered houses, some of which date from the 15th century and which tumble down to the port, make Jerzual the most picturesque street in the city of Dinan, an essential stopover on any trip to Dinan. We enjoyed strolling there and dreaming in front of the studios-shops of painters and sculptors. We strolled along the port and wandered through the historic center to stop in front of the Clock Tower, the Beaumanoir hotel, the English garden and the Basilica of Saint Sauveur. We will remember for a long time this beautiful meeting with this 103-year-old lady who agreed to a short interview. A beautiful moment. Do you know the ramparts festival?
