Pumping stations in the Alblasserwaard: diesel pumping station Sliedrecht polder The historic diesel pumping station Sliedrecht will be 100 years old in 2023. In 1923, the steam pumping station from 1883 was replaced by this diesel pumping station with a Brons diesel engine with a capacity of 110 m3/minute. This diesel engine is unique in its kind. In 1978, the pumping function was taken over by an electric screw pump that is located directly next to the building of the diesel pumping station. The diesel pumping station was thoroughly renovated in 2005/2006. Volunteers show how the diesel pumping station has served for more than 50 years. The historic diesel pumping station Sliedrecht polder can be visited from May to October on the second Saturday of every month between 10:00 and 16:00. 00:00 Sliedrechtse Binnenvliet 03:10 Preparations for starting the pumping station 04:00 Starting the Borns diesel engine 06:35 Opening the centrifugal pump 07:00 Pumping up water in the canal Video and editing: Joost Verweij Website Waardkenner at https://waardkenner.nl Music: Bensound.com/royalty-free-music License code: XCF1QMYLSDRL4HWT
