In this video, Eric Marié explains the principles, method and stages of diagnosis in Chinese medicine. How is this diagnosis made? The first phase consists of collecting symptoms and signs. It is carried out in four stages: observation (morphology, body posture, complexion, tongue, etc.), olfaction and hearing (body odors, physiological sounds such as coughing, hiccups), questioning and palpation of different parts of the body, particularly palpation of the pulse which is an essential aspect of Chinese diagnosis. Then, he explains how these signs and symptoms are classified using the bagang (eight principles of distribution). The second phase consists of a double diagnosis: determining the disease and identifying the syndrome. This last stage will allow the treatment to be adjusted individually.
