INTRODUCTION No one will be able to resist you all the days of your life; As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, for you will make these people inherit the land that I swore to give to their fathers. Only be strong and very courageous to be careful to do according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded you; do not deviate from it, either to the right or to the left, so that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not stop talking about this Book of the Law; but meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to everything that is written in it; then you will make your way prosperous and you will be successful. Didn't I send it to you? Be strong and courageous; Do not be afraid or dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:5-9 Time to take responsibility! After Moses' death, Joshua is tasked with leading the people to the Promised Land. This task involved having to face challenges and assume responsibilities, however, it was accompanied by specific instructions: to continually meditate on the Word of God. Therefore, much more than a personal and private religious practice, this meditation would be the key to Joshua's historical success in his public mission (Joshua 1:1-9). THREE Cs God instructs Joshua to “not cease speaking about this Book of the Law” and to “meditate on it day and night” (Joshua 1:8). Constancy (Not ceasing, day and night), Commitment (The legal terms of the covenantal relationship) and Worldview (The vision from which we interpret and interact with the world around us). Meditation, in this context, is not a simple mental activity, but a spiritual exercise that must cover every aspect of life, guiding us in all decisions, renewing the mind and strengthening faith, to live in obedience not as a burden, but an expression of love and devotion (John 14:15). Spiritual Discipline. The story of Joshua teaches us that meditation on the Word of God is a lifestyle. a discipline accessible to everyone who wants to grow spiritually. Start by setting aside time each day to reflect on God’s Word. Find a quiet place to meditate. You can find strength and direction by taking quiet moments to be in the presence of the Lord. Allow these words to sink into your heart and mind, guiding your thoughts and actions. During times of challenge, remember this promise and declare it in prayer. Just as Cornelius prayed continually, set aside time daily for prayer and reading the Word. CATALYST ELEMENT OF THE WORD For just as through the disobedience of one man many became sinners, so also through the obedience of one man many will become righteous. Romans 5:19. Through disobedience “Many became sinners”, this word “Many” comes from the Greek word “Polos” (4183) and from this Greek term, we understand “Pole as the axis around which a thing revolves”. This term represents each of the ends of the imaginary axis on which the earth rotates. Obey” is “Listen carefully”, to comply with his order (BE ONE WITH). They are those who are willing to see, hear and live. Jesus spoke what he heard, did what he saw the Father doing (John 8:38). He called men saying, “Come and see” (John 1:39). Obedience is like a catalytic element in the Kingdom of God, a reagent that activates processes, it has the power to unite, to make it remain. Just as detergent is a reactant that unites water and oil. Obedience has the power to keep everything in order, everything in perfect working order, with nothing out of place, preserving the relationship of man, intact, whole, in the sense of nothing broken and in the sense of providence, with nothing missing. Obeying before the fall was as natural as listening, obeying is as natural as loving. This is the call to the great commission “Teach to keep”! Thoughts into Convictions and Convictions into Actions. The Word of God, when meditated on continually, transforms thoughts into convictions and convictions into actions. By making meditation a central element of our lives, we discover that we are not just readers of the Word, but practitioners who live according to God's promises and commandments. Think of meditation as an instrument that reignites and feeds the flames of a furnace. Full text on the online study platform... www.andersonbomfim.com
