The Southeast Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office investigators on Monday, September 2, 2024, have named 5 (five) suspects, namely: 1. MB Head of PUPR Office of North Buton Regency as PA; 2. S as PPK; 3. N as Director of PT. SB; 4. U as Deputy Director of PT. SB; 5. SK as Head of Marketing of PT. Asuransi Videi Kendari. The five were named as suspects because there had been unlawful acts/abuse of authority in the Eensumala Road and Langere-Tanah Merah Bridge Construction Project of North Buton Regency in 2022 and 2023 with funding sources from the APBD (PEN loan funds) for the 2022 and 2023 Fiscal Years so that the project was not completed and caused state losses of + 4.5 billion rupiah. The roles of the five suspects are: suspect MB is the PA in the Eensumala Road and Langere-Tanah Merah Bridge works, suspect S as the PPK, suspects N and U as construction service providers did not complete the work until the end of the contract but still took down payments from the two works, suspect SK as the Insurance party who did not pay the work implementation guarantee even though it had been requested, resulting in state losses. Suspects MB, suspect S, suspect U and suspect SK had previously been examined as witnesses by investigators, then their status was upgraded to suspects and then they were detained for 20 (twenty) days at the Kendari Class IIA Detention Center. Suspect N has been summoned by investigators but the person concerned has not fulfilled the investigator's summons for examination. The actions of the suspects violate Article 2 or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999.
