The 23rd Infantry Division is one of the two main divisions of the II Corps and the II Tactical Zone of the Republic of Vietnam. The division headquarters is located in Buon Ma Thuot town, Dak Lak province. During the war, the 23rd Division built a cemetery on the outskirts of the town to bury thousands of soldiers of the division who died in battle. After 1975, this cemetery was left unattended and abandoned until today.
