The nitrogen cycle has two sides. In our previous video we saw the first side, nitrification, and in this second video we will see the other side, denitrification. Not only the aquarist who is starting out should understand the importance of the nitrogen cycle, but also those who have been in the hobby for a while and have almost permanent problems with high or undetectable nitrates. By understanding how denitrification works, we can more easily find solutions to these problems. On the other hand, closely related to nitrification and denitrification is the role played by sand beds in these processes, so we dedicate a few minutes to highlight their high value in achieving a very stable aquarium with a broad base of the trophic network.
