Shortly after the MH17 disaster, the Netherlands was ready to intervene militarily to repatriate the victims. A thousand soldiers from the Airmobile Brigade were on standby to travel to Ukraine to secure the disaster area, so that emergency services and forensic investigators could do their work. The Dutch soldiers would receive support from an equal number of Australian colleagues, Commander of the Land Forces Martin Wijnen told De Telegraaf.
