Stanislav Drobyshevsky and Kristina Egorova discuss the film "Child of the Jungle" (2011). In the early 1980s, German linguist Klaus Kugler, his wife and three children travel to the jungles of New Guinea, where he studies the language of a recently discovered native tribe. Unlike other family members, eight-year-old Sabina quickly adapts to the new place and learns many of the customs and knowledge of the natives. However, the family, living their lives peacefully, has no idea that they have found themselves in the very center of tribal feud. Despite their mutual desire to stay away from each other, the paths of the newcomers and the natives begin to constantly intersect over time. Nine years later, seventeen-year-old Sabina is forced to leave New Guinea and ends up in a boarding school in Switzerland, where she again encounters a completely alien world with its difficulties and conflicts.
