Daan is 22 when he suddenly starts feeling unwell during a kite holiday with friends. Tired, short of breath and anything but fit. When a strange lump starts to form on his groin a few days later, he knows immediately that something is wrong. A visit to the hospital confirms what he had already feared: Daan has cancer. And although he tries to deal with his illness positively and resiliently, things get worse and worse. So bad in fact that the doctors estimate his chances of survival to be 0.01. The treatment is stopped. Daan says goodbye to his loved ones, plans his funeral, but then... against all expectations there seems to be hope for improvement in 'his last days'. What is it like to say goodbye to life as a 22-year-old, to accept it and then to hear that you still have a chance of survival?
