Olivier Delamarche is a financial analyst specializing in macroeconomic analysis, now a member of Econoclastes, a think tank that deciphers the economy by wanting to free itself from conventional discourses. The economy is everything that characterizes commercial exchanges between companies, organizations and individuals and it is one of the key factors in explaining how the world works. Today our economic system is globalized, the same everywhere, extremely complex and therefore sometimes difficult to understand. Are we in a simply capitalist, ultra-capitalist, ultra-liberal model? I have not yet fully understood the question but I am beginning to understand that since 2008, much more than before, one element has played a central role in the system and allowed the survival of a model that is out of breath: debt. We talk with Olivier about what we need to understand about the current model, monetary creation, headlong rush and systemic risks. NB: Olivier is known for his critical and even provocative positions on central bank policy and for his pessimism about market developments.
