GDR agricultural machinery Fortschritt E524 / ZT303 harvesting complex The E 524 was probably the last combine harvester from the factory in Singwitz during the GDR era. It was able to harvest pretty much everything that was in the field, grain, oilseeds and pulses, grain corn, seedlings, fodder plants, vegetables, medicinal plants, aromatic plants and spices. It also mows standing crops, stored crops, picks up crops from the swath and breaks fruit clusters from the crop, which are then threshed and separated. The shape and structure are also completely new. The engine is a 6-cylinder DM of the type 6VD 13.5/12 SRF and under test conditions produced 152 hp. The drive was again mechanical via a variator with forward speeds between 1.4-20 km/h. The cutting units were available in widths of 3.6 m, 4.2 m, 4.8 m and 5.4 m. The grain tank holds 4.8 (standard) or 5.2 m³ with cover. The cabin is a fully glazed panoramic cabin with the best working conditions. The E 524 was awarded a gold medal at the 31st Engineering Fair in Brno/CSSR in 1989. Some of these combine harvesters can still be found in use in Thuringia and Saxony today.*
