In this video, we will understand how DC motors sold in the market work and how they are made. Let's start with the simplest possible DC motor. It looks like this. The stator provides a constant magnetic field, and the armature, which is the rotating part, is a simple coil. The armature is connected to a DC source through a pair of collector rings. When current flows through the coil, an electromagnetic force is induced on them, according to Lorentz's law. The coil will then start rotating.
