I am Dr. Carlos Jaramillo and in this video I want to explain why dairy products are not necessary or a good option for our body. Even though cheese, milk, yogurt and ice cream are part of our culture, they are not necessary for our health. My goal is not to impose my ideas, but to share the approximation to the truth about dairy products that I have discovered through my experience as a scientist and doctor, as well as by implementing these ideas in my patients. Humans are the only living beings that consume milk beyond breastfeeding, and we do so from another animal, which makes no biological sense. Consuming dairy products beyond breastfeeding is ridiculous and illogical. Dairy products are perfect for infants, but not for adults. When humans have their first teeth, we no longer need to breastfeed and we turn off the gene that produces the protein necessary to break down milk sugar, lactose. There are people who say they have lactose intolerance because their body cannot assimilate that sugar in its original form, due to the lack of the protein lactase. Dairy can cause inflammation in the body and, in some people, contribute to diseases such as acne, asthma, and allergies. Cow's milk is designed for the rapid growth of the calf, so it contains hormones and proteins that are not necessary for humans. In addition, milk undergoes processes that alter it, such as pasteurization and homogenization, which changes its properties. Milk also contains a significant amount of saturated fat, which can contribute to heart disease. Dairy is not a good choice for people with osteoporosis, as the calcium in dairy is not easily absorbed by the body. In fact, some studies show that countries with the highest dairy intake have the highest rate of osteoporosis. In addition, dairy can contribute to inflammation in the gut and decreased gut health. More and more voices are arguing that dairy is not necessary in our diet, and could even be harmful to health. Some experts argue that many of the nutrients found in milk can be obtained from other food sources, such as vegetables, nuts, and whole grains. In addition, some studies suggest that excessive dairy consumption may increase the risk of developing certain diseases, such as osteoporosis and some types of cancer. Although we have been sold the idea for years that dairy is essential for maintaining good health, there is growing evidence to the contrary. Should we avoid dairy and milk? Were we wrong? Milk is great for us, but it is dangerous!
