On July 7th, Cultne recorded with images and editing by Filó Filho the celebrations at the headquarters of Ilê Omolu e Oxum that completed 50 years of religious, social and cultural activities. On the occasion, the bust of the Iyalorixá of Candomblé Davina Maria Pereira, known as Iyá Davina, (Salvador, 1880 — 1964) was inaugurated. Daughter of Omolu and Oxalá, Iyá Davina was started in 1910 by Procópio Xavier de Souza, better known as Procópio d'Ogum, at Ilê Ogunjá, located in Baixão, formerly Matatu Grande, in Salvador. Flavio Costa interviewed Father Celso de Oxaguian present at the event. Initiated by Iyá Davina, Iyalorixá Meninazinha de Oxum founded Ilê Omolu e Oxum in 1968, initially in Marambaia, before moving and settling permanently in the São Matheus neighborhood, in São João de Meriti, in 1972. Sensitive to the needs of its sons and daughters of saints, as well as the surrounding community, in 1988 Ilê Omolu e Oxum formed a civil society with the purpose of organizing an administrative nucleus that would enable legal representation of the community-terreiro. towards governmental and non-governmental bodies. This representation aims to validate the implementation of projects in favor of the social, cultural, economic and political development of the region where the terreiro-community is located. Since then, the Religious Civil Society Ilê Omolu e Oxum has been developing projects with its own financial and human resources, also in partnership with other social institutions committed to the fight against all types of social injustice, in particular against religious intolerance and gender inequalities. and race. Thus, projects in general are aimed at serving women, black people, young people, people from popular classes who correspond to the profile of the surrounding community.
