On the steep walls of the Mont Blanc group, mountaineers discreetly search for valuable minerals that they want to collect or sell. Global warming and melting glaciers are bringing more and more crystals such as quartz, fluorspar and amethyst to light. But the search for them is dangerous because the permafrost is melting and landslides are increasing. In the mountains, treasure hunters discreetly indulge their passion, the search for the most beautiful crystal. Due to the melting glaciers, more and more prospectors - people who search for minerals - are driving to dizzying heights. In doing so, they accept many risks. A real gold rush has broken out in the mountains of the Mont Blanc group in recent years. Global warming and melting glaciers are bringing crystals to light in crevices that were once covered by eternal ice, some of which are worth tens of thousands of euros. In the Chamonix valley, more and more mountaineers are drawn to the steep slopes every summer. The prospectors search in crevices in the rocks for valuable quartz, fluorspar and amethyst. The minerals, which were formed over millions of years by geological processes, are sometimes found at altitudes of 3,500 metres and only experienced mountaineers can reach them. But they also risk a lot, because the permafrost is melting and landslides are becoming more and more common. The prospector Sébastien Fragnères spends more than a third of his time in the mountains, tapping the walls of the Mont Blanc massif for the precious crystals, which he then sells on social networks. Pierre Bavuz has been collecting "stones" for almost 70 years and has been the director of the Chamonix Crystal Museum for some time. He is lobbying the local authorities to ensure that the mountain range, to which he owes his passion for collecting, does not become a new Klondike. Jean-Franck, a prospector and mountain guide, wants to pass these two passions on to his son and grandson - despite the increasing dangers of high mountain hiking.
