An afternoon on the water. There are no exciting things to see. There are ships, water and skies, which I can enjoy immensely. I put music to it. The afternoon starts in Amsterdam. Who else but Ramses Shaffy and Liesbeth List, who spent a large part of their lives in Amsterdam and loved this city. It was a wonderful afternoon. We floated around on the Markermeer towards Hoorn. The sun was shining, almost all passengers were sitting on deck. I thought this song was appropriate. The song is the Pastorale, written by Lennaert Nijgh with music by Boudewijn de Groot. A classic. The Pastorale (Wikipedia): 'The lyrics of the song describe a conversation between the sun (Shaffy) and the Earth, in the form of a child on the beach (List). Shaffy is arrogant as a sun (Comets, moons and planets, everything revolves around me /.../ No life that I didn't start) and fiery. List is the child who prefers to be completely illuminated by the sun'. I have always found this song very beautiful.
