In the Qur'an there are many verses that criticize Christian teachings. However, Mun'im Sirry views that the criticism conveyed by the Qur'an is different from the teachings held by Christians themselves. For him, criticism of the Qur'an is polemical criticism. In the sense that the Qur'an has distorted the views of Christians in such a way that the goal is to win the debate with them. Thus, criticism of the Qur'an cannot be used to criticize mainstream Christian teachings as they exist today. He expressed this view, among others, in his book entitled Polemik Kitab Suci, which is a translation of his dissertation at the University of Chicago. The book written by Muhammad Nuruddin is a scientific rebuttal of the book and several other books by Mun'im, which also express similar ideas. In addition to discussing issues surrounding criticism of the Qur'an against Christian teachings - which have been misunderstood by some parties - Nuruddin also criticizes Mun'im's views related to the issue of tolerance, falsification of holy books and claims of salvation in Islam. As a result, the issues discussed in this book are issues that are still being discussed today. The presence of this book is part of an effort to revive the traditions of previous scholars.
