A Cultural Event Mall is to be built here, Germany's answer to the Centre Pompidou de Paris. Private investors from Hong Kong and the public sector are running the project together, but work has not been done for some time. Instead of construction workers, the invited journalists only see security staff everywhere. It soon becomes clear: construction manager Schmidtke has disappeared, along with important documents. In search of an explanation, local reporter Grimm and trainee Maja break into the future temple of culture at night and walk down gigantic escalators into nowhere.
