About :

Nikos Manioudakis holds a diploma in Byzantine Music and is a graduate of the Agricultural School of the Technical University of Heraklion. At the age of 9, he became involved in the tradition of Crete by learning the lyre. His contact with the public began at the age of twelve, when he was invited to play the lyre at a Cretan wedding. Since then, he has participated with his band in various social events throughout Crete, as well as abroad. Specifically, he has made appearances for expatriates in America, Canada, Finland, Germany, Belgium and Australia. In recent years, he has taught Cretan lyre and mandolin at various schools in Heraklion. By the age of 20, he had made his mark, having in his possession his own compositions of pieces in the motif of Cretan music. On stage, he creates, becomes one with the lyre and interprets primordial Cretan music with correctness and precision. He appeared in the discography at the age of 18 and continues to this day with successful recording projects, as well as participation in many other albums, sometimes with the lyre and sometimes with his voice. “There is a new trend among us that respects the old values, does not abolish them, but creates equally important new values”, he once wrote and this is what characterizes him.
