Cresta Croce 3,307m later renamed Cima Giovanni Paolo II and Cannone dell'Adamello 3,236m - Adamello Group From the terrace of the Ai Caduti dell'Adamello refuge you can admire an extraordinary aerial panorama of the glacier, the distant Corno Bianco and the articulated ridge that leads to Punta Giovanni Paolo II, characterised by the famous granite cross (inaugurated in the jubilee year) in memory of the visit to these places by Pope John Paul II. A peak that, in addition to being famous for the granite cross, is among the Adamello peaks involved in the war conflict of 1915 - 1918. Summary of the second day (EP.2): 🧗🏻♀️ Tour of about 20 km, about 1,400 meters of altitude difference, 11h complete tour 🅿️ Departure and arrival: Rifugio Caduti dell'Adamello 3,040m - Cresta Croce- Cannone- descent from the Pian di Neve glacier passing through the Rifugio Mandrone and arrival at Malga Bedole 1,540m 🥾 Equipment: rope, quickdraws, various carabiners, ice axe, crampons, helmet ✅ Wake up at 4:30 am departure at 5:30 am from the Rifugio Lobbia in a short time we reach the nearby Lobbia Alta pass and from there we cross a snowfield quite steep, which takes us to the base of the rocky section that we will have to tackle (most complicated section PD, II+). After climbing a few meters, with the help of the fixed ropes and metal cable, we find some brackets that take us near a small rocky wall and, in a short time with fun passages on rock, we reach the top of Cresta Croce 3,307 m from here in 30' we continue towards the Cannone and then head west to the Pian di Neve glacier, from there we arrive at the Mandrone Refuge and then Malga Bedole.
