From April 26 to October 6, 2024, visitors to Wangen can enjoy imaginative theme parks, classic and wild gardens as well as lush flower exhibitions on 3500 square meters in the park. But the State Garden Show offers much more than just daffodils, tulips and early bloomers. From sustainable and ecological gardens that aim to use native plants and promote biodiversity, to modern and minimalist designs with water features, natural pools or garden pavilions. In a new episode of Tobias Discovers, we take a closer look at other show gardens: A highlight in the show gardens is a natural pool. What's special: it is cleaned completely biologically and chemicals are not used. The secret: the water is completely cleaned by gravel filters. Recycling materials play a major role in the construction site garden. Materials are creatively reused here, whether stepping stones or a wheelbarrow as a plant trough in the flower bed. The concept: visitors should not view a finished garden, but follow the development of the finished garden. But even a small garden can be designed interestingly: In a small home garden, dry stone walls can beautifully structure the garden with seating and lounge areas. In the show garden, a dry stone wall was designed based on the English land art artist Andy Goldsworthy. The dry stone wall disappears into the path, only to reappear on the other side. It is important to plant plants that promote biodiversity and attract insects, rather than creating dreary gravel gardens. Dead wood in the garden is an important element in this. It provides a habitat for many insects. Feng Shui for the garden: Anyone who wants to design their garden according to Feng Shui will also get inspiration at the State Garden Show: Organic paths, large-format outdoor slabs and a round seating area are design elements here. In a new episode of Tobias Discovers, we look for the latest garden furniture trends and ideas for garden design.
