https://github.com/rcfdtools/R.TSIG Class: HIDG0007 The CN or curve number, is an empirical parameter whose value varies from 0 to 100 and is used in hydrology to estimate the losses of direct runoff generated from precipitation events. It is determined based on the type of cover, its treatment, the hydrological condition, the antecedent humidity condition and the impermeability of the basin. CN values of 100 mean that all precipitation becomes runoff and lower values correspond to less runoff and therefore greater infiltration or retention. To create the curve number or CN map, we will use the methodology developed by the USDA or National Natural Resources Conservation Service of the United States of America, formerly called the Soil Conservation Service or SCS, for which we will require the maps of soil uses and types. Land use refers to the type of current or potential land use on the surface, and soil types refer to their composition, related to pedological content and lithology. Objectives Create the USDA CN curve number map for the antecedent condition of normal moisture. Understand what the USDA hydrological groups are and what they are used for. Identify use zones and associate them with CN values by hydrological group. Relate the uses of the Colombian territory with characteristic CN values. Understand the composition of symbols defined for Soils in Colombia. Weight zones defined from the lithology of soils in the distribution percentages of each hydrological group.
