When we hire people, they come with a brain. And with that comes good and bad things. Brains are a gray mass that, inside, has several types of formations. But, at their base, they all have a gland, the cerebral amygdala. It works like a chip that runs a program that identifies risks. When it is found, it gives us two commands: run away or attack. This means that the brain protects us from dangerous situations. However, this amygdala does not turn off. And, because of this, it keeps looking for enemies. This enemy could be an email, an argument, a problem. The answer that the amygdala gives is: run away. And how do we run away? By blaming the company, blaming the customer, blaming the universe, blaming the lack of this or that. This is exculpability. Accountability is a moral virtue that encourages people to let go of this mental model in order to develop professionally and personally. 12:47 - Importance of accountability for business owners Every business owner should be aware of what excusability is because it is this mental model that makes people make excuses.
