With an example, we will see how to build, from a text, a Conceptual Data Model (CDM) also called an Entity-Association model (EA Model). To do this, we will analyze the text to identify the attribute entities. We will thus build the structure of the model, and we will focus on important points: why have a unique identifier and the preference for elementary attributes. We will understand with Excel, for an entity, how we must imagine it in our head. Then, we will complete our model by adding the cardinalities. We will understand how to assign them, and when to prefer 0,N rather than 1,N. Indeed, putting a 0 means that there can be elements in a table associated with no elements in another table, and putting a 1 means that all the elements of a table are necessarily found at least once in the other table (we will come back to this in the next video if it is not clear hihi). Then, we will add the cardinalities of the associations, then we will have finished our model! There you go, this video is quite long, but everything is detailed ^^ In this video: 0:00 Intro & Presentation 0:42 Identifying entities and attributes 5:12 Trains entity 5:44 Elementary attributes 6:20 Entity Type 6:44 Data type 6:51 Unique identifier 7:12 Concrete example (Excel) 8:32 Entity Type 8:48 Adding the unique identifier 10:19 Association 11:00 Other entities & associations 16:29 Note 16:42 Cardinalities 22:10 Cardinality of the association 24:10 Note 24:25 Summary & End I try to explain well :) … in 4K 😝 Databases - Computer science Prep/Bachelor's/BTS/IUT level 1st or 2nd year (Bac Sup) or for personal culture 😉 ----------------- Link to the files: https://fabinou.fr/fiches
